Research of the Atomic Theory
States that matter is composed of discrete units called atoms, as opposed to the obsolete notion that matter could be divided into any arbitrarily small quantity. -
Dies in Manchester, England at age 78 of paralysis

Thomson announced hid discovery of the electron in the Royal Institution only through original study of cathode rays and their electric discharge.
-
Published in the Annalen der Physik. His work is summarized in two books Thermodynamik (Thermodynamics)
-
Published Theorie der Wärmestrahlung (Theory of heat radiat ion)

Charged carried by electron, using elegant "falling-drop method." He also proved that this quanity was a constant for all electrons.
-
Does gold foil experiment.
He postulated that atoms have their positive charge concentrated in a very small nucleus.
Makes Rutherford model. -
Went to University of Copenhagen in 1903-1911
While there, he came up with the model of the atoms and proposed the model in 1913
Model showed protons and neutrons and various energy states of the surrounding electrons -
Chadwick's discovered and proved the existence of neutrons.
He helped make atomic disintegration that need not over come any electric barrier and is capable of penetraing and spliting the nuclei of the even the heaviest elements.
Later helped make the atomic bomb. -
Died in Cambridge. He died from a hernia.
