  • Rosa parks refuses to move her seat

    NAACP member Rosa Parks refused to give up her sat and move to the back of the bus. She went to jail and was trialed. Her lawyer was none other than martin luther king jr
  • Montgomery bus system desegregated

    the montgomery bus system no longer had the blacks sit in the back of the bus
  • Black students go to little rock high school

    Black students go to High school in little rock arkansas and president eisenhower sent the 101st airborne to guard them from harrassment and other threats.

    the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Commitee is created at shaw university providing young blacks a place in the civil rights movement.
  • Civil rights act of 1960 signed by president eisenhower
