    Thurgood Marshall
    He became a very famous lawyer in the 50's for supreme cases. His first case he won in Supreme Court was Chambers Vs. Florida. He was the president for the NAACP and dealt with any cases involving black people. Or if the black society had concerns they were to bring it up with him. He was the one who fought against the school board in the Brown Vs. Education. He later became the first black man in Supreme Court.

    Jackie Robinson
    Jackie Robinson was the first black baseball player. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was born in January 31, 1919 and died on October 24, 1972.

    THE DIXIECRATS CAME FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. THEY DID NOT BELIEVE IN ALL THE SAME THING AS THE PARTY DID. THE DIXIECRATS DID NOT LAST LONG BUT THE DID HAVE A LONG TERM IMPACT. THIS HELP SPREAD THE POWER IN THE GOVERNMENT SO IT WASNT JUST ALL OF THE DEMOCRATS RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT. THIS WAS THE START OF TWO POWER GROUPS.. THIS IDEA LATER BECAME THE START OF REPUBLICANS.

    This came about by President Truman. It was to make sure that the treatment was equal when serving in the army. The people did not get treated differently based on race. Religion or where you came from. Each person who fought for the United States where going to be treated equal.

    Brown v. Board of Education
    This was a court case where NAACP was defending the black population against the national school board. The case happened because the black population did not think students should be separated according to race The school board tried to say they could do this because segregation was okay as long as it was equal. The NAACP proved to the jury that the schools were not equal. This did not get rid of segregation in other public places just in the public schools.

    This case was about a 14 year old black boy who was visiting his family in Mississippi and was kidnapped and later found dead. The 14 year old was accused of whistling at a white lady while walking down the road. Once he was found dead the state found out he was beaten shot then dumped into the river by two white men. The two white men who were accused of the murder where J.W Milam and Roy Bryant. It did not matter because they got away with it there jury was all white men.

    A women name Rosa Park was riding on a public bus on Dec1.The bus had been full and a white passenger bored the bus and there were no seats open. She was close to the front of the bus so she was spouse to give up her seat for the white passenger and she didn’t. She was taken off the bus and arrested because she broke the town ordinance .

    THE SOUTHERN MANIFESTO WAS A SOUTHERN CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE SCHOOL DESEGREGATION. THEY BELIEVED THE WHITES AND BLACKS SHOULD BE SEPARATED. THEY GOT 101 POLITICIANS TO SIGN THE DOCUMENT. THERE WERE TWO COPIES OF THIS MADE THE FIRST WAS BY STORM THURMOND AND POLISHED VERSION WAS WRITTEN BY RICHARD RUSSELL. THEY TRIED TO ACCUSE THE SUPREME COURT OF ABUSING THEIR POWERS.

    The boycott started because black women were being arrested for not moving for a white person it was lead by Martin Luther king. The blacks were going to stop using public transportation. Instead they were going use there car or car pool or even in some cases the white wife’s would bring them. The boycott began to make a cut in the profit for towns in the end after court they got the right to sit wherever.

    LITTLE ROCK IS A HIGH SCHOOL IN ARKANSAS. IT WAS A WHITE ONLY HIGH SCHOOL UNTIL THEY COULDNFT SEGREGATE ANYMORE. THE TOP 9 BLACK KIDS FROM SCHOOLS AROUND WERE SELECTED BY THE NAACP TO GO HERE. ON THE FIRST DAY THE GOVERNOR OF ARKANSAS TRIED TO USE THE NATIONAL GUARD TO BLOCK THEM FROM COMING IN. ONCE EISENHOWER FOUND OUT HE ORDERED THE ARMY TO FALLOW EACH ONE OF THE KIDS AROUND SCHOOL SO THEY WOULDNFT BE HARMED. THESE STUDENTS WERE HARASSED AND TORMENTED EVERYDAY BUT THEY STUCK to it.

    THIS WAS A BLACK RELIGIOUS GROUP WHO CAME ABOUT BY MARTIN LUTHER KING, CHARLES K STEELE AND FRED L. KING HAD BECOME THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THIS RELIGIOUS THEY WERE A SMALLER GROUP LIKE NAACP. THEY HELPED A LOT IN ORGANIZING DIFFERENT THINGS FOR THE CIVIL RIGHT MOVEMENT.
