    France and Britian fighting in Europe and British Colonists wanted to take over French land in North America. The British wanted to take over the fur trade in the French held territory.

    The British increases taxes on goods and the colonists refuse to pay them and start to show signs of defiance. This is the first big sign of defiance against the British.
  • Boston Massacre

    colonists gather and harass british soldiers and the soldiers open fire and kill several people. This shows a very strong will to fight britian for independance.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The "sons of liberty" boarded British ships and dumped 45 tons of tea into boston harbor. This shows an act of Revolt on the British Govenrnment. They refused to pay the taxes put on tea.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    In response to the boston tea partybritian passed laws such as boston harbor closed until the tea was paid in full, including tax. The colonists would not stand for this and once again showed signs of defiance.

    Washington led an army of men into a british settlement close to philidelphia and killed over 100 men and captured another 1000. not a single american was killed and this gave a very large moral boost to americans and led them to fight on
