• Mao Zedong takes control of China
This involved the people of china mao zedong, and to some extent the soviet union. Mao does many things in his rule but the great leap forward was the one thing that killed many chinese. Also he was an allie with stalin which created problems for the US -
• Korean War
The Korean War was a military conflict between the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, supported by the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. -
• Vietnam War
The north communist allies where against the south anti communsit government supported. It was a cold war conflict and in the end of it the US pulled out and the communists took over vietnam. That had an effect on the war because the US had lost against the Soviets. -
• Soviet Invasion of Hungary
The soviets invaded hungary and they had had much resistance from the people. The hungarians had after a while pulled out of the warsaw pack countries and had become neutral. This helped the US because they had had an allie of the russinas and the soviets pull out from them. -
• Fidel Castro Takes Over Cuba
Fidel takes over Cuba and takes all power killing many people. Also he gets invaded by the soviet union creating the Cuban missle crises which had an extreem effect on the cold war. -
• Bay of Pigs Invasion
This was a failed attempt by the americans to invade cuba. They had sent a small team of trained cubans and a few americans to ivade cuba they had failed, And the response it was fedel castro was aware that the US wanted to invade cuba. -
• Cuban Missile Crisis
This crisis started off with Khrushchev secretly building missiles. Having a site where the missiles were, a U.S plane flew over the site spotting the secret missiles. Cuban was then very involved having found they were making missiles. It made the americans very aware of the cuban missles and panicked them. -
• Civil War in Nicaragua
the civil war was over the government and the soviets helped out the people that took over the government so because they helped them out that put an allie on the russians side against the US. -
• Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia
The Warsaw pact countries invaded Czechoslovakia with an estimated amount of 500,000 troops. After some time thought the forces there had moved out of the country but left a few garrisons there. It had a little bit of an effect on the war. -
• Nixon Visits China
Nixon goes to visit China to make relations with them, China responded back to the U.S not with a good feed back. China were so mad were could of broke out. The Nixon visist helps the cold war out by getting the help of china to agree. -
• Revolution in Iran
The revolution in iran have many religious and secular values that do not go together. The conflict grows. People wanted Iran to become a republic ruled by the Islamic law. The revolution of iran brought tension to the cold war. It was not a helping point to the cold war. -
• Iran/Iraq War
A treaty was signed that established the Shatt. The War caused many damage. The war caused many economic caos because it involved with the two major oil producers. Having this economic crisis's this did not help the Cold War. -
• Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
The soviets invaded afganistan to take it over with their communist power. They fought for a few weeks with no succes. so in the end the Soviets dicide tro pull out of Iraq. This cuases the soviets to look weak in the rest of the worlds eyes. -
• Fall of the Berlin Wall
The Fall of the Berlin Wall helped out the Cold War by ending it. People will always refer to the Berlin Wall as the making point of how to stop the Cold War. Why the Berlin Wall fell was because it was in the focal point of changes. -
• Mikhail Gorbachev takes control of USSR
He had taken control of the USSR and had weakened it with his new gov plans. soon he was out of office but the way he weakened it had let to the end of the Cold War. -
• Soviet Union Falls Apart
The Soviet Union falls apart and becomes stably weak. The USSR does not learn that need to have strength to be strong and not fall apart. Having many different crisis's come in the Soviet then comes to an end not having Cold War be helped. -
• SALT Treaty Talks
The goal was to replace the agreement with a long term treaty. The U.S and the Soviet Union negotiated agreements. Having them negotiate the agreements helps better the Cold War. Knowing that their is a long term treaty.
