Exposition 1 Background
Brendan Buckley is a black 10 year old kid, almost 11. He takes Tai Kuan Do, and has many questions about life. His Black grandfather died in April that same year, and he misses him alot. -
Exposition 2 Setting
The story takes place in the summer vacation of 2010, somewhere in the USA. -
Exposition 3 Characters
Brendan is very curious about life, and is very questioning.
Gladysz is his grandmother, very old, weak, and bony. She has skin the color of a football. -
Rising Action 1
At the mall, Brendan meets an old man, who he later discovers to be his long unknown grandfather. -
Rising Action 2
Brendan asks his mom about his grandfather, and she says he doesnt want to see them, and she doesnt like to talk about him. -
Rising Action 3
Brendan goes to his best friend Khal's house, and Khal says he has something exciting to show Brendan. -
Rising Action 4
Khal shows Brenda an awesome slingshot he made, and he grabs some of his sisters dolls. -
Rising Action 5
They both shoot some of Khals sisters dolls out the window, and almost get caught. But dont. -
Rising Action 6
Khal and Brendan decide to call Brendans grandfather, (Ed Debose) and find out what happened between their family and his. -
Rising Action 7
Online, Brendan and Khal find out that Brendan's grandfather lives only 8 miles away. -
Rising Action 8
Brendan and Khal decide they want to start training for their purple belt next week. -
Climax
Brendan and Khal get into a fight with a group of 4 older white boys at the park, over tools given to them by Brendans grandfather. One of the pieces on one of the tools gets broken. -
Falling Action 1
When Brendan gets home, he tells his family about the fight, but keeps the tools a secret. -
Falling Action 2
Ed Debose calls, and asks Brendan to come to the rock meeting with him the next day. -
Falling Action 3
On the way to the rock meeting the next day, Ed lets Brendan drive the truck, and he does. -
Falling Action 4
At the meeting, Brendan is introduced, and he meets a cute girl with braces. -
Falling Action 5
When they get back from the meeting, Ed gives Brendan a magnifying glass, for Brendans rock collection. -
Resolution 1
Brendan gets caught secretly seeing his grandfather, and gets grounded for 2 weeks! -
Resolution 2
Brendan's dad tells him that the reason his grandfather didnt want to marry his mother because her family is black. -
Resolution 3
On Brendan's B-day, Ed Debose comes over, unexpectedly, and gives Brendan a present. He apolagizes for everything, and the family forgives him.
