Plessy vs. Ferguson
Homer Plessy, an African American was arrested for sitting in a white’s only car on a train. So he fought in Supreme Court trial. Unfortunately, he lost and segregation continued for over 50 years. -

Jackie Robinson
Until the mid 1940’s major league baseball was a white only sport until 1945. African American star Jackie Robinson was in the minor leagues. Then in 1947 Jackie was asked to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the major league. Then in 1948 Jackie became the Rookie of The Year. Then many black players followed to play in the MLB. -
Rosa Parks arrested
Montgomery, Alabama was a segregated city. African American was treated like second class. In buses the first ten rows were reserved for whites only. On December 1st, 1955 Rosa Parks stood up for her rights and didn’t get up then got arrested. -
JohnF.Kennedy
John F Kennedy was elected in 1960 and got 70% of the African American vote. He showed African American’s that he can stop segregation. Kennedy didn’t make changes quickly. Eventually he appointed Thurgood Marshall as a Federal Court judge
