  • American Civil War

    American Civil War
The American Civil War was a war fought in the United States from April 12, 1861 'til May 13,1865. After a long-standing controversy over slavery, war broke out in April 1861, when the Confederates attacked Fort Sumter. We chose this event because it plays as part of our nations history. If it hadn't been for this war our African Americans would still be slaves. Due to issues of slavery and power the U.S. was divided in two. The north: people against slavery, and the south: those with slavery.
  • The Civil Rights Movement

    The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement was a struggle by African Americans in the mid 1950s to late 1960s. Blacks participated to get the same equal rights as whites, such as: in employment, housing, education, right to vote, and to be free of racial discrimination. We chose this event to agree with the terms. The blacks asked for equal rights in 1955 and received them 1968. Also, because this event goes with Rosa's event. Although some blacks still receive racial discrimination the world is changing slowly.
  • Rosa Parks' Bus Incident

    Rosa Parks' Bus Incident
On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama Rosa Parks' refused to give up her seat for a white man, and was arrested .In reaction of her arrest, blacks and a select few of whites boycotted the Montgomery bus system. We chose this as a thank you from the blacks. Mrs. Parks caused a bus boycott which later ended segregation on buses, and in public places. This was beneficial to the southern states mostly because they were segregated. Rosa did this every black person in America, not just herself.
