  • The Albany Plan

    The Albany Plan
The Albany Plan of Union was proposed by Benjamin Franklin. It stated that all the colonies would be under one federal government, and each state would have it's own constitution. And to be fair to England, and to shwo that they wanted to compromise, each state would be lead by a governor appointed by the king, so they would have some say in how it was lead. It was denied by England. This is important because it shows the beginning of building their own country.
  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening
Back then, there was a huge gap between the Upper and Lower classes. The upper-class citizens believed in material possesion and money, while the lower-class citizens believed in religion and pre-destination. This brought on the creation of new colleges to train ministers (Brown, Princeton, Rutgers), the mission to "save" the Native Americans, and the idea of theocracy. I believe this was important because it shows the attempt to try and improve their already crumbling society.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
This war was fought between France, Britain, and the Native Americans. It was a competition over land, trade routes, and trade with the Native Americans. It ended with the British conquering the French, and claiming the Ohio River Valley. This is important, because it predludes the Proclamation line of 1763, and the future taxes and acts against the Americans.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
King George creates the Proclamation line across the West Indies to stop Westward Expansion. The Americans felt this was unfair, because they had just "won" that area from trom the French in the French and Indian war. But king George felt that if they did cross the Indies, it would only cause more commotion with the Native Americans and cost more money.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was a modified version of the Molasses Act, which was about to expire. The Molasses Act cost 6 pence per gallon of foreign mollases. But because the French produced mollasses was cheaper, more people would buy that instead. So now the british made all purchacing of "Foreign Goods" illegal, and they could only buy british goods.

    The Inolerable Acts

Because the French and Indian war was so expensive, England needed the money back from the Americans. And the only way to do this, was taxing. They taxed mostly things that were needed in abundance.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
Because of the effects of "The Stamp Act", the people of Boston revolted and went to violence to solve their problems. This included tarring and feathering, beating, and the Boston Massacre. After the massacre, England backed down on the Stamp Act and lifted taxes on everything but tea. This is important, because it makes the beginning of the thought of war against England.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
In rebelion to the Tea Act, the Americans dress as Mohawk Native Americans, and dump loads of tea into the Boston Harbor. This makes King George furious, and he passes "Intolerable Acts", which included shutting down the harbor. This hit Boston's economy like a sack of bricks, because this was it's major source of trade. This was important, because it had a big impact on the progression towards our independance.
  • (Intolerable Acts) Boston Port Bill

    (Intolerable Acts) Boston Port Bill
After the events of The Boson Tea Party, England Closed the port to the Americans until all expenses from the damages were paid.
