In March 2003, the US invaded Iraq in order to get rid of Iraqi weapons and end the dictatorial reign of Saddam Hussein. Iraqi forces were quickly taken over, and the invasion led to the fall of their government and Saddam Hussein was captured in December of 2003.

Hurricane Katrina was a very large and powerful hurricane that hit the United States and caused a lot of destruction and killed many people. It is the most costly and damaging natural disaster to ever hit the United States. George W. Bush signed a 10.4 billion aid package and sent many National Guard troops to the region to help.

The Boston Marathon Bombing was a domestic terrorist attack that took place during the annual Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. Brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev planted two homemade bombs, which detonated near the finish line of the race.
