    1992 the festival was established
    The festival, which is called simply and colorfully — "Slavic Bazaar", is held annually in Vitebsk. It is an international festival of various arts and creative projects that unites different countries and cultural communities of the Slavic world and other peoples. The first of a series of festivals, Slavyansky Bazar, was organized in the summer of 1992, when private non-profit organizations from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine became its founders.

    In 1996, the festival was broadcast for the first time on satellite television, which made watching the art festival accessible to residents of the whole planet.

    At that time, the Bazaar had the status of a musical, but every year new art directions were included in its program, and already in 1995 it began to carry the status of an art festival. The Slavyansky Bazaar received its current name in 1998 and was accepted into the International Federation of Festival Organizers.

    According to the organizers of international federations, the “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk” was twice recognized as the “Festival of the Year” - in 2000 and 2004 - for the impeccable quality of the festival organization, the efficiency and skill of the performers, for the popularization of high humanistic ideas in the international arena.

    Award "Through Art to Peace and Understanding"
    Every year, on the legendary stage of the festival in the Summer Amphitheater, a special award “Through art - to peace and mutual understanding”, established in 2005 by the President of Belarus, is presented. Its laureates can be “cultural and artistic figures, creative teams, organizations that have made a significant contribution to strengthening international cultural cooperation, promoting achievements and examples of world artistic culture based on humanistic ideals and values.”

    In 2009, the Avenue of Stars appeared on the lower terrace of the Summer Amphitheater, which later turned into Star Square. Here the prize winners receive the right to unveil this particular sign: in Vitebsk this is a symbolic festival - the cornflower flower - with the name of the owner and the anniversary of the award.
