    One man. in china, stood in the way of a column of military tanks. The tanks were sent out by government officials after a vistit from the leader of the soviet union. There may have been over 100,000 protesters, but no one knows how many died. This impacted the US, by showing that communism was failing.

    The Soviet Union could no longer keep their empire that they weorked so hard to build. They had gone bankrupt trying to keep up with the American military buildup. The impact on the united states was that this ended the cold war and ended a war that spanded over four decades.
