1955 – 1975 Timeline

  • Polio Vaccine is Released

    Polio has been a serious threat to many generations... People were scared it would make them very sick and unable to provide for their family and even death. When the Polio vaccine came out it gave people hope, and sure enough Polio began disappearing.
  • Rosa Parks is arrested

    Rosa Parks is a black woman fighting for the rights of blacks. Rosa refuses to give a white man on the bus her seat, because she pleaded it was not fair. She was arrested then. Martin Luther King is now beginning to step in.
  • Interstate Highway System

    Eisenhower decides to finally sign the Federal Aid Highway Act. This will begin the development of highways within the United States. This is still to be known as one of the biggest works project we as a country have ever done.
  • Bay of Pigs

    Launched under Kennedy, but developed by Eisenhower is about to devastate the USA prestige. 1500 Cuban exiles, who have been run by the USA, show up in Cuba. They want to try to overthrow the Castro regime, so here they go.
  • Presidential Landslide

    In a very close, tiring, and long battle... Lyndon B. Johnson takes on the title of President.
  • USA Comabt Units

    USA Combat Units make their first apparel in Vietnam to try and stop the war.
  • The March to the Pentagon

    Hundreds and thousands of soldiers began their march straight to the Pentagon to let everyone know they were completely and totally against war in Vietnam.
  • Martin Luther King Assassination

    After everything MLK did for the black community and helping black rights, Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. He was assassinated by James Ray, who plead guilty for killing this historical and innocent man.
