The Vietnam War was a catastrophic conflict that took place in Vietnam between the years of 1955-1975. This war was between the Communist Northern Vietnam and South Vietnam, also known as the Republic of Vietnam. The U.S. attempted to prevent the spread of communism by joining the forces of South Vietnam, but pulled out of the war in 1973 and suffered many casualties throughout the war.
