In December, 1955, African American Rosa Parks decided to take the bus commute and was immediately arrested because of her refusal to give up her seat to a white man. This boycott sparked a year long boycott against city busses which eventually led bus companies to stop discriminating.

Soon after president John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Lyndon B. Johnson took his place. Johnson took action by creating the Medicare and Medicaid systems which help elderly people, poor people, and people with disabilities afford health care.

During the 60s and 70s, Americans continued to fight for equality for women, lgbtq+, african americans, etc. In 1972 congress approved the "Equal Rights Amendment" which explains that equal rights cannot be denied because of sex.

During the Cold War, Reagan had not planned out the United States money out carefully. Due to Reagan's irresponsible spending, over 9 million people were unemployed and people began losing their homes and land. Reagan's money gave the federal government more debt than its ever had.
