    At a time when African American and foreign people were migrating from the south to the north some of them settling in the already crowded city of Detroit and competing for the jobs and housing there. This caused a riot to start between them and the whites ending in 25 African American deaths and roughly 325 wounded African Americans

  • Morgan v Virginia

    Morgan v Virginia
    On July 16, 1944 African American woman Irene Morgan refused to give up her seat on an interstate bus to a white passenger. She was then arrested however she then filed a lawsuit against Virginia, the state that had arrested her. Then on June 3, 1946 the court heard her case and ruled in favor of Irene 6 to 1.
