  • World War 2 begins

    Hilter sends his troops into Poland. Two days later Great Britian and France declare war on Germany and World War 2 had begun
  • German forces capture Kiev

    German forces capture Kiev and the Nazis kill more than 30,000 Jews.
  • Pearl Harbor

    At 7:55 on Sunday, December 7, 1941 the Japanese war planes attack Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. More than 2,300 soilders, sailors, and civilians died.
  • The Doolittle Raid

    On April 18th, 1942 the US air attacked Japan. They launched from there aircraft carrier Hornet. This mission was led by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle. Air Forces leader General Henry H. Arnold assigned Doolittle to organize and lead a successful air group. The B-25 tested that it could fly off a carrier with a useful bomb load and enough fuel to hit Japan and continue on to airfields in China. The Hornet was sent to the Pacific to undertake the Navy's part of the mission.
  • Battle Of Midaway

    The Battle of Midway was a naval battle between the Japanese and the Americans. It was from June 4th, 1942 through June 7th, 1942. The Japaneses lost over 200 naval ships. The Japanese plan was to trick the US into coming there and they were going to sink there ships. It was the most important naval war during the world War II. The Us destroyed 4 of the Japanese aircraft carriers. The Japanese naval never recovered. The First time that the US attack took place after a Catalina flying boat.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    The Biggest defeat of the German army since the war had begun,

    Germany lost 300,000 and the Soviet Union lost 1,200,000.
  • D-Day

    General Dwight Eisenhower led the largest combined land sea invasion in history, 150,000 Allied soilders landed along the coast of Normandy, France. The Allies tried to push the Germans out of France.
  • Germany surrenders

    Germany unconditionally surrenders its remaining armies to the Allied commanders. On April 30 the nazis leader, Adolf Hitler, commits suicide.
  • Hiroshima, Japan

    The United States drops the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, The bomb was named as "Little Boy."
  • Nagasaki, Japan

    The United States drop the second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. The second bomb was bigger than the first bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and it was know as "Fat Man."
  • Japan surrenders

    Japan surrenders unconditionally to the US and the allies.
