    Bell made a contract with American Telephone and Telegraph Company's (AT&T) . This allow for more long distance calling to be made between major cities.

    A long distance cable was installed that connected Atlanta and Chicago. This expanded the range of the telephone even more.

    The Rotary dial phone came to an end when the Touch Dial phone was invented. This phone has buttons instead of a dial. It made making calls much easier and quicker.

    The numbers 9-1-1 were chosen to be the universal emergency numbers to dial because they were easy to remember and were not an already existing area code. 911 made it easy to contact, by phone, the police and other emergency officers.

    The car phone allowed for calls to be made while in the car opposed to only being able to make calls inside a house.

    The first text message was sent. This changed communtication once again. Now not only could you talk to someone far away, but you could also send them a couple word text. This put "snail mail" to shame.

    Nokia introduced the first phone to carry a wireless applacation which allowed the internet to be accessed with out a computer. This changed research termendiously. It could now be down where ever there was a wireless connection. But still, only the rich business people had these phones.

    Nokia came out with the Nokia 3210 which was the first phone to have T-9 perdictive text. This made text messaging must faster and more efficient.

    Nokia came out with the first cell phone to have an internal antenna. This was more fasionable and more convient for making calls.

    The first camera phone allowed for pictures to be taken on the cell phone. It was convientent and easily accessible to people with a cell phone.

    The first IPhone was released. This allowed for the user to have access to the internet, music, phone, texting, and anything else that could be imagined. This led to many more advances in technology.

    Nokia released their first touch screen phone. The touch screen phone allowed for the cell phone to not have buttons, only a screen.
