Jim Carrey, Born James Eugene Carrey, is born in Ontario, Canada. He was always an outgoing kid growing up. At 14, him and his family were forced to relocate to a Toronto suburb called Scarborough and worked 8-hour shifts in janitorial and security positions.
Moves to L.A.
Carrey moves to Los Angeles and gets a gig at The Comedy Store, where he got signed by Buddy Hacket and Roger Dangerfield as the opening act.
Stars in a television movie called Introducing...Janet.
In Living Color
Made many other television appearances, such as one in "The Duck Factory" and "Jim Carrey's Unnatural Act". This led to his first regular role in the popular show In Living Color.
Big Screen Debut
Carrey finally makes it to the big screen with the movie Finders Keepers.
Jim Carrey married Melissa Wormer and had a daughter with her named Jane. They divorced and he briefly went out with his co-star on Dumb and Dumber, Lauren Holly. After that, he had a relationship with Renee Zellwegger, but that lasted less than a year.
Makes his first big screen success in the film Ace Ventura, where he stars as the leading man. This film ended up grossing $72 million and spawned a sequel (Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls).

In 1998, Carrey plays the lead role in the movie The Truman Show, about a man who is actually living his life in a television show. This movie got him a Golden Globe Award for best acter.
