  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Colonists provoked British soilders becasue they were angry about taxes. Many colonists over-exagerated the event.
  • Tea Act

    Limited trade to British East India Company. Colonists were angry becasue they were not treated like other British subjects.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Was the reaction to the Tea Act. Colonists dressed as Natives and dumped tea into Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Was also known as the Coercive Acts. Closed Boston Harbor; Mass. charter was canceled, Gage became the new govener; royal officials go to Britian for trials; colonists were forced to quarter soliders; and Quebec gets land.
  • Lexington and Concord

    British quickly got past Patriots at Lexington. British were forces to retreat at Concord.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Decided to continue boycotting British goods, didn't declare war but prepared an army. Wrote the Decleration of Rights.
  • Decleration of Rights

    Created at First Continental Congress. Stated the complaints against taxes being imposed unjustly on them.
  • Americans drive British from Boston

    Patriots surronded Boston with cannons. Forced Britians to leave.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Founded the Continental army. Also drafted the Olive Branch Petition.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    One of the most important colonial victories. The battle lasted three hours and was one of the deadliest battles of the Revolutionary War.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition
    Was adopted by the second continental congress. The colonists were tyring to assert their rights and King George refused to read it.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    A pamphlet by Thomas Paine. It argues that citizens should be able to make laws. It changes many colonists minds and was widely distibuted.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Announced that the thirteen colonies were now independent dtates. Thomas Jefferson wrote most of it.
  • Battle of New York

    The British had a big victory. They gained control of the city and kept it for the rest of the war.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    George Washington led his troops across the Deleware River to suprise attack the British army. The Americans won because the Hessians let their guard down and fell asleep.
  • Battle of Brandywine Creek

    Battle of Brandywine Creek
    The British won. They captured Phiidelphia; the colonists capital.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The British had a good victory. They invaded New York and forced the Americans to surrender.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Siege of Charleston
    The surrender at Charleston is the biggest American surrender ever. General Clinton called it a siege because if it would be called an attack then he was afraid the people of Charleston would not listen to his rules.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The last battle of the Revolutionary War. The Americans forced the British to surrender.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    the treaty that ended the Revolutionary War. It stated all of the Americans rights. Benjamin Franklin negotiated most of the Treaty.
