  • The Neutrality Act of 1939

    This Act allowed European democracies to purchase war materials from the United States, though only cash-and-carry. By passing this act, the United States would avoid loans, torpedoes, and war debts.
  • The North Africa Campaign

    The North African Campaign was a series of battles for control of North Africa. These battles were strategically important for both the Western Allies and the Axis powers.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    The Lend-Lease Act let the U.S government lend or lease war supplies. This allowed the United States to support its allies while still remaining neutral.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor was attacked by Imperial Japanese Navy airpower in a surprise military strike.
  • The Battle of the Coral Sea

    The U.S. Naval airplanes prevented the Japanese from occupying New Guinea's Port Moresby.

    This was a very important naval battle because this determined who would secure dominance in the Pacific.

    Allied forces were attacked in the Ardennes region in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France by German forces.
  • The Battle of Okinawa

    The invasion was part of Operation Iceberg, a complicated invasion and occupation plan for the Ryukyu Islands. Okinawa provided Allied forces with an airbase from which to attack Japan, as well as an advanced anchorage for Allied fleets.
