This was a joint declaration that was released by the president Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime minister Winston Churchill. They were trying to work for peace after the war, and to create an international organization to arbitrate disputes. -

Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan. Japan decided to attack pearl Harbor because they thought that it would severely cripple the United States fleet and it would also buy them time in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. In the end this did not help Japan in the long run. -

This was a pivotal WWII naval battle between the United States and Japan. This was fought in the Pacific ocean. This was considered the turning point in the Pacific war. U.S Navy's victory crippled Japan's naval power and shifted the balance of power in the Pacific. -
Battle of Stalingrad
This battle was against the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. This battle stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union and marked the Turning of the tide of war in favour of the Allies. This marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany and shifted the balance of power in favor of the Soviet Union. -
Invasion of Sicily
This was a major WWII campaign where allied forces invaded the island of Sicily to remove Axis control. The purpose of this invasion was to regain control of most of the Mediterranean. The allied invasion was successful by opening up Mediterranean sea lanes. -
Normandy Invasion
The Normandy Invasion was also known as D-Day and this was a pivotal event in WWII. The allied forces launched a massive amphibious landing on the beaches of Normandy, France, to liberate Europe from German occupation. This caught the Germans by surprise and initiated the end of Nazi reign over Europe. -
Battle of the Bulge
The battle of the Bulge was the last major German offensive in WWII. During this war the Germans wanted to split allied forces, gain access to the vital port of Antwerp, and buy time for Germany to recover. In the end the allied forces and the US were able to push Germany back which marked a turning point in this war. -
Yalta Conference
It was a meeting of the three major allied leaders. The three allied leaders were Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. This conference aimed to discuss the post-war world. They decided for free elections, created zones in Germany, and Democracies and Communists Nations clashed. -

There's a lot of factors that played into Germany surrendering. Some of them were the overwhelming allied forces, the loss of key strategic territory, and the biggest one is the death of Hitler. There were two parts to this the western and Eastern fronts and the second part was the allies demanded unconditional surrender. -
United Nations Founded
The United Nations officially began after the San Francisco Conference ended. This came to existence after its Charter had been approved by China, France, the Soviet Union, the UK, the United States and by the majority of other signatories. The United Nations is here to maintain international peace and security among Nations.
