  • The Neutrality Act of 1939

    The Battle of the Coral Sea was a naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy as well as naval and air forces of the US and Australia.   • The North Africa Campaign

    The North Africa campaign was part of WWII. The North Africa campaign included campaigns fought in the Libyan and Egyptian deserts as well as in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. It was fought between the Allies and the Axis Powers.
  • D-Day

    D-Day had allied forces launch the biggest :amphibious invasion" in the all of warfare. Its codenamed was "Operation Overlord." Paratroopers and glider troops were sent to secure exit roads and bridges. The Normandy landings then began. Almost over 150,000 Allied troops stormed and captured Normandy’s beaches, by the end of the day.
  • The Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge is when the German forces surprise attacked the allied forces in the Ardennes region in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. The battle was an unsuccessful try to split the Allied forces and prevent an invasion of Germany.
  • The Battle of Okinawa

    The Battle of Okinawa was the last and bloodiest war. War prisoners that were Japanese, had been captured by the US military. About 12,000 were killed and 36,000 were left wounded. It gave Allied forces an airbase so that bombers could strike Japan and an advanced anchorage for Allied fleets.
  • The Dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    A bomb was dropped over Hiroshima. This killed about 80,000 people. Then three days later, another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.This killed about 40,000 people. The Emperor of Japan announced that his country would surrender "citing the devastating power of “a new and most cruel bomb.” "
