Nazi Germany occupied the remainder of Poland. Poland remained under German occupation until January 1945. It ended the Second Polish Republic and it began WWII.

    The remaining Jewish inhabitants began a month-long battle against the Nazis. The Nazis had established the ghetto after ordering all Jews in Warsaw to collect in a designated part of the city, they sealed it off from the rest of the city. Disease had killed thousands of people in the ghetto population. The Nazis surrounded the ghetto and the battle began. The shooting had become so intermittent that it was clear the ghetto fighters had been defeated.

The camp held political opponents of the Nazi's as prisoners then they increased and other groups joined the concentration camp; the majority were Jews. Hundreds of inmates got sick and/or died in the camp. The US later army liberated the Dachau main camp.

About a million Germans tried a mass departure to the West when the fighting in Czechoslovakia finished, but got stopped by the Russians and taken hostage. As a result the eighth of May was when German troops finally laid down their arms. On May 9th the Germans finally surrendered.
