    HItler began to enter politics. In 1921 he joined the German Workers Party. By the summer, he had become the leader and renamed it the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi Party).

    In the summer of 1935 the Nazi announced these new racial laws in Nuremberg. These laws excluded jews from German citizenship and did not allow Jews and Germans to marry eachother. Later these laws made all Jews have to wear a yellow star and carry a identification card.

    The Kristallnacht was a violent phase of anti jewish activity. The Nazi burned Synagogues and destroyed thousands of jewish businesses. Hundreds of jews were killed and thousands were sent to concentration camps.

The German troops were haulted, their supply lines were cut off, and it was all in the wInter. The Germans didn't have the supplies and clothes they needed to survive in winter conditions. What was suppose to be the best German troops were gone.

    The U.S and Britsih troops land on the Normandy beaches. The troops fought their way through underwater mines, wires, and machine guns firing continuously at them. They even broke through German defensive lines. This has become one of the greatest naval invasions.

    After Hitlers suicide on April 30, the German commanders decide to surrender. This ended the war in Europe.

    Harry S. Truman had an important decsion to make. He wanted the war to end and a way to defeat Japan. He decided to drop bombs at Hiroshima and three days later at Nagasaki.
