    Executive Order  9066
    President Roosevelt had all the people with Japanese haritage from the western U.S. move to internment camps. Two thirds of the affected were Americans.

    The Bataan March
    The Americans got cornered and got captured as prisioners of war. They were forced to march for 5 days and nights on a 60 mile march. Those who dropped out of line were beaten or shot. If a soldier fell down he was left for dead or stabed and killed.

    D-Day
    June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by the end of the day on June 6, the Allies gained control in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high -more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded.

    This happend during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The Americans won. The raising of the flag happened before the battle was even over. There is a famous photograph taken of the soldiers raising the flag.

    Two atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan. The bombs killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki. On 15 August, six days after the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan announced its surrender to the Allies.
