Video on Europe and WWII On September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland, going against the agreement they made with Europe. This caused Europe to declare war on Germany on September 3rd, 1939.

About twenty months before Pearl Harbor, Carl Vison passed two bills that would help the U.S during WWII. One of them expanded the naval aviation in the United States. The second one sped up naval construction and eased labor restrictions.
Fun Fact: He recieved a Presedential Medal of Freedom and had a nuclear powered aircraft carrier named after him. -
The Brunwick Shipyard was also used to make many ships for the war effort during WWII. They made about 99 ships, 85 of which were Liberty Ships.
Fun Fact: There were about 16,000 workers in the Brunswick Shipyard. -
He was a Georgian politician during the time of WWII. He entered as the youngest Georgian Senator at the time. He created a group of senators to see how the war was going.He helped the US perepare to fight in WWII and brought 15 millitary bases to Georgia. Fun Fact: He served in Senate for 38 years.

Video for Lend-Lease The Lend-Lease Program was a bill signed by president Franklin Delano Rosavelt. It provided United States millitary aid to foreign countries (Such as Great Britain) during WWII.

The Savannah Shipyards were sites that were used for Liberty Ship construction. During WWII, about 88 ships were made for the war effort. -
The Bell Aircraft Corperation made many fighter aircrafts during WWII. They more mostly known for their Bell X-1. Fun Fact: The Bell X-1 was the first airplane to fly faster than the speed of sound! Chuck Yeager rode this airplane.

This terrible event was the mass murder of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and more during WWII by the Nazis. It started in 1933, but the U.S didn't really know about it until early 1942. Side Fact: Night was a book by Elie Wiesel that was about his experiences during the Holocaust.

DDay Documentary
This day marked the beginning of the Battle of Normandy. It resulted in the Allied liberation of Western Europe from the control of the Nazis. D-day was the day they started the invasion. -
This was a conference between FDR, Stalin, and Churchill. They met up to agree and demand Germany's unconditional surrender. Fun Fact: This has been a very controversial because Stalin went back on his word. People belive that FDR sold out to the Soviets.

The Battle of Iwo Jima lasted from February 19 to March 26, 1945. It was a major for the U.S, as they captured the island of Iwo Jima from Japan.
Fun Fact: The famous image on the thumbnail of this event was taken during this battle. -
There have been many conspiracies related to the death of Hitler. This caused Germany's millitary to completly collapse. Fact: Some people say that he shot himself, while others say he posioned himself. Some people say that he never even killed himself.

More on Hiroshima
The United States droped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima during WWII. This completley destroyed Hiroshima. (It wiped out nearly 90% of the city). Many died during this and it gave the atomic bomb the title, "the most cruel bomb". -

Three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, another atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. This killed about 40,000 people and caused Japan to unconditionally surrender. -

The United Nations (UN) was formed for negotiating and keeping peace in the World. It promoted international co-operation and tried to prevent things like WWII from hapening again. (Easier said than done).
