Germany made a suprise attack on Denmark and Norway. Denmark fell after four hours after the attack and Norway surrendered after two months.

The sound of tanks and aircraft announced the begin of the invasion. The Soviet Union was not prepared for the attack and although they had a very large army the troops were not well trained nor well armed. After one week of the attack the Germans pushed 500 miles into the Soviet Union.
