    The objective of the battle was to split the Allies forces up with a surprise blitzkrieg thrust through the Ardennes to Antwerp. The Allies’ leadership miscalculated and left the Ardennes lightly defended by only two inexperienced and two battered American divisions. The Germans sent 250,000 troops to fight. The battle ended as a draw on January 25, 1945. The Battle costed America 100,000 casualties.
