Germany invades Poland and kicks off World War 2. Hitler said he needed living space for his people in Germany and claimed this was a defensive action. The Germans would go and populate the new area and enslave the Slavic people already living there because Hitler hated Slavs. -

Germany Invades France
Germany invades France, Netherlands, and Belgium. With the bombing of Rotterdam Netherlands surrendered. A group of tanks whent through the ardennes and quickly overwhelmed the french and the french soldiers were evacuated to Britain. Then the German forces turned towards Paris and took it. -
France signs armistice with the axis
Hitler takes over France and starts his occupation of France. He then visits the city and starts a provisional government in southern France. Hitler now has an amazing spot to bomb Britain just across the channel. -
The battle of Britain
A massive air battle that lasted for months. The German luftwaffe bombed the cities of Britain and military bases. They were in constant battle with the RAF. Finally Hitler cancelled the invasion because the luftwaffe could not gain control of the air. Great Britain stopped the axis advance in western Europe. -

Germany has failed to gain air superiority over Britain. Hitler cancels the invasion and that is the first defeat of the German luftwaffe. Great Britain is spared a ground invasion and has stopped the German advance. -

the Japanese march an American army 65 miles after they are defeated and captured. They made this march in extereme heat and with lack of water. They were beaten by the guards during the long terrible march. -

A massive morale boost to America because an aircraft carrier carried bombers within range of Tokyo and they bombed it. The reason it was called the Doolittle raid was because it was proposed by a man named Doolittle. -
The battle of Coral sea
This is a very important battle for America. The USA defeated Japan at the battle of Coral Sea. This battle stopped Japan from invading New Guinea. Though both sides took damages to hteir carriers it was a strtegic victory for the Allies. This was also the first battle in history were only aircraft shot at the ships the ships never fought each other. -

This battle was extremely important for the war in the Pacific. The reason why it was so important was that they destroyed lots of the Japanese navy. Lots of their naval aircraft and battle hardened pilots. This was what locked down all the Japanese forces on the islands and the island hopping campaighn began. -

This was an extremely important battle in Eastern Europe. This battle was what pushed The Nazis out of the USSR and had them retreating. This battle really was a game changer in the war in europe. This was one of the deciding battles of World War 2. -

This is the end of the Nazi Assualt on the USSR and marks the point where the Nazis start retreating. Another cold winter is setting in and Nazis are not prepared for it. They are dying of frostbite and other diseases. They are ill equiped for the cold Russian winter. -

Nazis had locked Jews into ghettos and other really bad places for years. In this ghetto Jews had had enough of their bad treatment and rebelled. This rebellion lasted for around a month and was ill fated for the Jews. Enventually th Nazis won and defeated the Jews. -

The third US army led by George Patton leads the battle from North Africa to Sicily. This battle is important because it puts the Allied forces close to knocking out an Axis power. They succesfully invade sicily capturing it and it puts them close to Italian peninsula. -

The third US army invades Italy and moves close to Mussolini. The reason this is important is because it knocks out an Axis power and moves thim one step closer to Nazi Germany. After this Italy formally surrenders to the Allied powers and gets out of the war. -

D-Day the singl largest naval invasion in history. This battle brings about the liberation of France and Normandy. Hitler's massive beach defense is breached and they go on the offensive against Germany. This leads to the end of the war. -

This is the final counter offensive of the Germans and marks the end of their ability to fight back against the Allies. They tried ti blitzkrieg the Allies and split the front. But it failed and it turned into a bulge in the line and the Allies were able to push the Germans back. -

The battle of Iwo Jima was a very important battle. One it put them super close to the Japanese Homeland and with in bombing distance. This was one of their final Island fortresses. This was also a place for one of the most memeroble statues. -
The invasion of Okinawa
America invades the Japanese island of Okinawa. This was particullarly bloody battle because the Japanese did not oppose them on the beaches. They decided for a defense in layer they had tons of hiding spots which they would attack from when the marines got near. This was a very bloody battle. -
The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
the USA drops to A-bombs on the Japanese cities. This would start a whole nother conflict between capitalism and communism. But this is what ended the war in a very destructive manner -
World War 2 ends
The end of a massive conflict between superpowers. This conflict caused so many deaths on both sides America benefited the most. However America did not lose the most Russia did. This was going to mark the change in technology.
