  • Bombing of Pearl Harbour

    Whilst under the command of Admiral Nagumo The Japanese gave the American Naval base a surprise when they had attacked them at Pearl Harbour. This is was a signifcant event because on that day America had then declared War on Japan and few days later Germany had declared War on America. This started World War 2
  • Battle of Buna–Gona

    On the 16th of November 1942, there was a battle in the Papua New Guinea campaign which was a big part of the Pacific Campaign of World War II. Australia and the United States attacked the Japanese beaches in New Guinea and Buna, Sanananda and Gona. This was known as the Battle of Buna-Gona.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    On the 6th of August, 1945, an American B-29 dropped the Atomic bomb, also known as “Little Boy” on Hiroshima, Japan, which was one of the targets. There were around 80,000 people who had died, and when the radiation had about the total deaths to around 90,000-140,000 and about 69% of the buildings had been destroyed.
  • Bombing of Nagasaki

    On the 9th of August, 1945, a second atomic bomb also known as the “Fat Man” was dropped on Nagasaki who was the second target of the Americans. There were about 40,000 people who had died due to the atomic bomb and the radiation; the death toll had then risen to around 73,884. The bombing had done around the same amount of damage as the first bomb.
  • Victory over Japan Day

    This day is also known as VJ Day. On this day, the Japanese had surrendered to the Bix Six (allies). This was announced in Japan. This is a significant event because this ended World War 2.
