    Japanese Invasion of China
    The event that began the invasion, was initially a clash that occurred between the Chinese and Japanese troops on the Marco Polo Bridge. The Japanese Ambassador elaborated his unfavourable thoughts on the futility of war, and its consequences, however losing anything to China was seen as unacceptable, prompting Japan to provoke China into war.The eight year invasion was damaging not only to the lives of civilians, and militant lost, but the state of the two countries yet to be reconciled.

    The Fall of Paris
    The fall of Paris, otherwise known as the Battle of France, resulted in the capture, and conquer France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium. It only took a few weeks for the entire country to crumble. Reason being the failure of leadership on a politicial, and and military level. Not only imperfectly led, but also poorly equipt. The fall ultimetly led to German victory, an occupation that lasted for years, and British evacuation, leaving the UK vulnerable to risk of invasion.

    German Blitzkrieg
    Germany quickly, and efficiently dominated much of Europe, and was successful for more than two years by using the new found military tactic known as Blitzkrieg. Which involved using focused application of offensive weapons along a narrow front. It was effective because it was designed to disorganise the enemy. When the attacks became more frequent it allowed the opposing to blunt assaults with defence lines. The impact of this allowed them to conquer faster, and more efficiently.

    Begining when the 183 aircraft of Imperial Japanes Navy attacking the US Naval base on the island of Oahu Hawaii. Within two hours of the attack, 18 US warships had been sunk or damaged, 188 aircrafts destroyed, and 2403 American servicemen and women killed. The major goals of Japan upon the attack; intending to destroy important American flet units, preventing the Pacific Fleet from interfering Japanese conquest, and to enable Japan to conquer South East Asia wihtout interference.

    Wannsee Conference
    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting between Nazi officials in order to plan the "final solution" to the so called "Jewish question". The conference proved signifigance as a turning point, diverting from the original plan of relocation, to something unimaginably sinister. The new plan of "evacuation to the east" enatailed the systematic murder of Europes jews through the use of concentration camps. Causing the grusome perish of many lives, and initiating one of the worst genocides of history.

    Battle of Midway
    This battle was an air-sea fight, a succesful defense of the major base located at Midway island, and diminished Japans idea of neautralizing the United States as a naval power, turning the tide of the World War II. Japans goal in the battle was to remove the US as a pacific power in order to gain territory. The success in the US stopped their chances, and they remained in power. Which was later useful for the US in other battles, due to their gain of power, control, and militarty advances.
  • Allied Invasion of Italy

    Allied Invasion of Italy
    The Allied invasion began with landings on the island of Sicily. With no resistance, or retaliation of the sicilian troops, Montgomerys 8th Army came ashore. The Allied leaders goal in doing so was removing Italy from the war, and diverting the attention of Russian and German troops at the frontline. German forces in Italy surrendered on May 1st, and six days later all of Germany surrendered. Marking turning point in the war, due to Germanys inability to sustain conflicts on either border.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    The begining of the largest amphibious invasion in history, was when the Allied forces launched a naval, land, and air assault o the Nazi infested France. After five years of war with Germany, this massive attacks was meditated to overthrow Nazi Germany, and its leader Hitler. The begining of the end for not only Germany, but Hitler aswell, facing a two front war for the second time, Hitlers goals were being undermined in the exact opposite they came to be.
  • Battle of the Buldge

    Battle of the Buldge
    Hilters aim in the battle was to split the Allies in their fast aproaching drive to Germany. Germany would circle in, and destroy all four. As the Germans went on, the line of the Allied appeared as a blue buldge, giving the battle its name. Despite the surprise attack, the Allies won, causing an immense amount of casualties on the German side. This was the last battle Germany fought on the Western front, and their catastrophic losses prevented them from ressisting Allies future advances.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    American forces invaded the island of Iwo Jima, ensuing a battle lasting five weeks. In the grisly battle, it is beleived that all except 200 of the 21000 Japanese forces fighting were killed, along with 7000 Marines. The first major battle on Japanese soil, the strategic location lured the US in as a place for bombers and planes to land and take off. Signifigance of this battle lies in the preperation it grounded for the largest battle in the Pacifiv to follow, the Okinawa Invasion.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Also known as "Operation Iceberg", was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific theater. Resulting in the largest casulaties with over 100 000 Japanese casualties, and 50 000 of the allies. Americans wanted to destroy what was left of Japans merchant fleet, and launch bombing raids on their heartland. Basically wanting to put Japan in their place, and prove their more powerful at etreme costly measures. Causing the greatest amount of casulaties of both Atlantic, and Pacific.
  • Liberation of concentration camps

    Liberation of concentration camps
    The Germans began dismantling the camps in 1943, after the Jews in Poland had been killed. The Soviets liberated the largest concentration camp, responsible for most of the deaths. Many survivors were so weak that they could hardly move, starvation, and disease, recovery was a long and difficult process that most never recoverd. Most camps had to be burned to prevent the spread of disease, and the publicy of the overrides gave a more clear, realistic idea of what the camps truly consisted of.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    VE was a celebratory day for the Allies, formally recognizing the end of the second world war. Great britain, and the United States celebrated the victory as well as cities in Europe. Putting out flags, and banners, they rejoiced the defeat of the Nazi war machine. The day meant alot to the people, commencing six years that destroyes houmes, families, cities, and cost the lives to populations of entire cities.
  • Dropping of the atomic bombs

    Dropping of the atomic bombs
    American B-29 bomber dropped the worlds first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and three days later second B-29 dropped another A-bomb on Nagasaki, killing and estimated 40000 people. America was ready for the war to be over, fast and efficiently, so they irdered the new weapon to be used. The bomb, and many casualties were an ending point for the Japanese, leading to the surrendor, and an accomplished goal for the Americans.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    Victory over Japan day, the day that Japan surrendered to the Allies. This came months after Nazi Germany surrendered, ending six years of war. Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, and "the day for mourning war dead and praying for peace" as it is referred to. It is now celebrated in commemoration of lives lost, and all the horrible things that happened durinng the war, rejoicing that it is over, and remembering those affected.
