William has been the duke of Normandy since he was a little kid. but he because the master of Normandy after the battle of Val-Es-Dunes. he was victorious in this battle.

William was planning a war on England. But william didn't have enough troops so he got support from the pope. Last he had to call three councils before he got their support.

Halleys comet

Halley's comet comes around every 75-79 years. this comet came around inside of Williams lifetime. This comet was named after Edmond Halley who perdicted when the comet would come back into Earth's atmosphere.

William was very good at creating battle plans. What he did is that he would centralize distrabution of food. Also he got rid of garbage so less of his people would get sick.

He had just defeated the English army and expected immediate surrender. To ensure the defeated northern earls did not cause any further trouble, Hardrada demanded 500 hostages. This was a battle plan to keep him safe.

In the battle of hastings William was the leading general. He ended up winning the battle. After it was over William was officially called "William the Conqueror."

When he finally arrived in London, the surviving Saxo surrendered the city without a fight. William was crowned king of England on Christmas Day 1066. This happened because of his battle plans.

Tower of London

The Normands started the creation of the tower in 1066. this building took 7 years to finish. The name of the builder of the tower is Gundulf or the bishop of Rochester. William built this after his victory in the Battle of Hastings.

on the year 1086 William compleeted the doomsday book. It was a survey of his newly conquered lands and possessions in England. He compleeted this at the end of his life.

William the Conquerordied on the date of september 9, 1087. He died in Saint-Gervais, France. The burial site of William is in Abbey of Saint-Etienne, Caen.
