William Gerald Golding was born in Cornwall, England, in September 19, 1911.

He attended Brasenose college at oxford in 1930, and spent 2 years studying science, in his 3rd year he switched to literature program, his dream was writing poetry.

Golding worked as a writer, actor, and produced in a small theater in a unfashionable part in London, paying his bills with a job as a social worker. He began teaching English and Philosophy, in Salisbury at bishop Wordsworth School.

He married Anne Brookfield, and had 2 children.

He spent 5 years in the navy from 1940-1945, he made an enormous impact, he wrote about his wartime experiences.

He got rejected by 21 publishers , He published his first and most acclaimed novel "lord of the flies"

In June 19, 1993, Golding died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal, Cornwall.
