William Golding was born 9/19/1911 in Cornwall, England and was raised by his mother (women's rights activist) and father (principal). William at the age of twelve tried to write a novel but was unsuccessful in doing so. This led him to bully his peers in the classroom.

His teenage years mainly consisted of getting in trouble and being a nuisanse to his peers.

As a teacher who had a degree from Oxford, he took a position teaching English and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury.

William temporarily abandoned teaching to join the royal navy and assist in word war II. He spent most of the six years in a boat.
