  • Thomas Kuhn Summary (Part 1)

Thomas Kuhn is a very well known Philosopher and has been a major topic in this lesson. Kuhn had a different view on how science progressed and how new ideas evolved. This is how he came up with his discovery of Paradigm Shift, and although he had many other contributions, Paradigm Shift will be the topic of interest today. Kuhn actually made a scientific model that better described his belief. The model starts with Pre-science/Normal Science, this is where everything begins.
  • Thomas Kuhn Summary (Part 2)

The question or problem starts in this step. Next is the Model Drift, and this is basically a more advanced search into the problem. But the problem is going further away from being resolved. This takes us to the Model Crisis, and this is literally the step where crisis takes place. The problem can no longer be resolved. After that comes Model Revolution and this is a new problem or question that arises, hence the word revolution. Finally, the last step is Paradigm Change.
  • Thomas Kuhn Summary (Part 3)

This is where a new Paradigm arises from the old one. Then the process starts all over again! In my opinion, Thomas Kuhns discovery of the Paradigm shift was ingenious. It has had major contributions to science, and with great reason. Not only that, but the model actually makes sense and proposed a new way of science progression. I think he was right when he opposed the idea that science has a steady progression, and of course there was controversy, but the model makes total sense.
