Voting Rights in the United States

  • Constitution is ratified

    White rich adult males were only allowed to vote.
  • 1810 - Religious qualifications dropped

    you did not need to have a religious affiliation to vote but you still needed to be a white adult male that was rich enough to own property.
  • 1850 - Property requirements dropped

    Property and taxes could not restrict you from voting but the voting group was still strictly adult males.
  • 15th Amendment

    The amendment made it so former slaves and all adult male United States citizens were able to vote.
  • 19th Amendment

    It gave adult women the right to vote.
  • 23rd Amendment

    This amendment made it so the people in Washinton DC were able to particapate in a presendential elections.
  • 24th Amendment

    This amendment made it so poll taxes were taken away.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    It drew attention to voting rights to African-Americans in the south.
  • 26th Amendment

    This amendment makes is so the minimum voting age is set to 18.
