Southern states didn't like that their slaves were starting to vote so this ended up leading to them passing laws for this not to hppen. -

This put into to act that people could now vote even if their grandfather didn't. -
19th Amendment
Allows for when to be allowed to vote. -

Courts decide that its okay according to the constitution for them to charge to vote. -

They changed it so that people didn't have to pay poll taxes anymore. -
