    With the capital of Berlin, Germany being separated by the United States and the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin created the Berlin Blockade to isolate East Germany to keep them under Soviet influence.

However, the U-2 was discovered and was shut down by the Soviet Union, where Eisenhower lied about the order of spying on them. As of consequence, it decreased diplomatic relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union.

President Nixon declared an end to the Vietnam War.
