    Magna Carta
    King John sighed the Magna Carta in 1215 limiting the powers of the ruler.
  • Stamp act

    Passed by British parliament and I required all American colonists to pay a tax on every piece of paper they used.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Passed by british parliament and allowed the British East India Company tea a monopoly on tea sales in the American colonies.
  • The Boston Tea party

    The Boston Tea party
    The colonists started protesting, they refused to buy British goods and they dressed up as Indians and dumped tea into the ocean.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    These were disciplinary laws passed by the British parliament after the Boston Tea Party. They were punishing colonists for protesting the Tea Party.

    It is a statement written by Thomas Jefferson declaring the freedom of the 13 colonies from the British it explained why we should be free and it listed the complaints we had with King George III.

    In the battle of Yorktown the Continental army forces the British to surrender and the American Revolution was over. We then became the United States of America.

    John Jay helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolution. It was signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the U.S.

    The Continental Congress wrote the U.S. Constitution this document established the basic structure of our government. It made a government in which the people hold the power, they can elect their own representatives. It is divided into 3 parts- the Preamble, the articles, and the Amendments.

    This case gave the Supreme Court the power of Judicial Review to determine if a law follows the Constitution. This was the first time the Supreme Court declared an act of Congress as unconstitutional.
