the homested act was passed in 1862 and promised 160 acers of free land to any citizen or intended citizen that is the head of a house hold. this was ment to gize people a reason to move wastward and jumpstart wastern produce. -

the settelers and the indians had a bad relationship as best proven by the massacre at sand creek where 500 women and children as well as 200 warriors where massacred by general S. R, curtis and his men. -

civil rights bill
the most important event of reconstruction was the creation of the civil rights bill and the 14 amendment. this was so important because it gave blacks citizenship rights and also protected these rights. andrew johnson vetoed the law but congress over ruled him with a 2/3 majority vote. -
radical reconstruction
in my oppinion radical reconstruction was the most impactful because it forced states to ratifiy the 14th amendment witch had a large impact that lasts to this day even if reconstruction faild. it also made states invalve blacks in the reconstruction witch gave blacks a sence of hope. -
railrods
the only way the wastward expantion was posable was because new railroads made it posable to move suplies and people faster. the bigest railroad was the trans contenental railroad. the last railroad spike was hammerd in on may 10 1869. -

the first telephone was invented by alexander graham bell and was first sucsessfully demonstrated on september 7 1927. this is in my oppinion the most important inovention of the industreal revolution because it help make fast esay and afordable comunication posable witch help unite the nation. -
the tweed ring scandal
the tweed ring scandal was the most important event regarding political machines because tweed (leader of tammany hall, a powerful new york political machine) was aressted at the end of the scandal on nov 23 1876 and the rest of the ring where convicted as well. tammany hall was a large political machine witch was a signifigant loss. -
the end of reconstruction
imediatly after taking office hayes withdrew all troops from the west. he did this because in the compromise of 1877 (clever name) the promissed that if hayes was elected he would withdraw from the south and pass a bill that would help make a trans contenental railroad and they would elect hayes. -
the great strike
the great railroad strike was the most important strike because it damaged the chance of success for most strikes in the future.
