    Deployment

The span of my deployment ranges from the 10th of July 1940, to the 30th of April 1945. Throughout my deployment I had also fought through many battles including: The Pacific War, The Battle of Pearl Harbor, The Battle of Midway, And also the Invasion of Normandy, also most commonly known as D-Day.
  • Japanese attack Pearl Harbor

    Japanese attack Pearl Harbor
The Battle of Pearl Harbor was the first battle I was put into. It was unexpected, It was 7;59 a.m. I was sleeping and then suddenly i was awoken. I heard planes, lost of planes flying over. I woke up to notice that the Japanese had planned and executed a surprise bombing on the U.S.Naval Base located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii destroying 20 of our vessels and killed more then 2000 of our soldiers and sailors.
  • The Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway
Nearly 6 months after my fist battle, i was put into another one. I was not nearly as anxious as Pearl Harbor, but i was still very anxious but I knew what I was walking into. The fight took what felt like forever but ended on the 7th of June 1942. In the end of the battle, we sank four fleet carriers, 322 aircraft's, and over 5000 of their sailors.
  • Battle of Guadalcanal

    Battle of Guadalcanal
When Japanese troops arrived on Guadalcanal on June 8, 1942, to construct an air base, and then American marines landed two months later to take it away from them, few people outside of the South Pacific had ever heard of that 2,500-square-mile speck of jungle in the Solomon Islands. But the ensuing six-month Guadalcanal campaign proved to be the turning point of the Pacific war.
  • Battle of Makin

    Battle of Makin
The battle of Makin started on the 20th of November and ended November 23rd. I vaguely remember commander Ralph C. Smith giving us the orders along with the 165 infantry to raid Yellow Beach on the Butaritari Island. 697 navy infantry were killed and 66 army infantry were also killed leaving a total of 763 casualties, 185 infantry were wounded, and 1 American Aircraft Carrier was sunk. 395 Japanese infantry were killed, and also 101 Japanese Laborers were captured.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
One of the most remembered battles I fought in was the Invasion Of Normandy which took place from June 6 1944, until late August 1944. June 11th, The beaches were fully secured by 326,000 troops, more than 50,000 vehicles, and 100,000 tons of equipment on the beach. The sights I saw that day still haunt me, i have constant reminders weather i'm watching a movie or the news, or eating dinner with the family. Just certain words or saying brought up bring the images back into my brain.
  • Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima
Iwo Jima was one of the most furious, deadly battles that i had fought in. My adrenaline was up the whole fight and didn't go down until the battle was over. Roughly 23,000 Japanese army and navy soldiers fought regardless of the terrain. They fought through caves, dugouts, tunnels, and through underground installations.
  • Iwo Jima Continued

    Iwo Jima Continued
Three american marine divisions took on the fight with 23,000 Japanese soldiers The American amphibious invasion of Iwo Jima during World War II stemmed from the need for a base near the Japanese coast. Following elaborate preparatory air and naval bombardment, three U.S. marine divisions landed on the island
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa involved the 287,000 troops of the U.S. Tenth Army against 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese thirty second Army. At stake were air bases vital to the projected invasion of Japan. By the end of the 82 day campaign, Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the Allies had suffered more than 65,000 casualties, including 14,000 dead
  • Dropping of the First Atomic

    Dropping of the First Atomic
At the time, President Harry. S Truman warned the population of the city of Hiroshima that if they did not leave the city bad would be occurring, he gave many signs such as the use of many other small explosives being dropped over the city increasing to larger sized explosives each time. At 8:16 a.m. Japanese time, the United States flying the Enola Gay, dropped the atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima killing 80,000 people from the initial explosion, 35000 also being injured.
  • Dropping of the second Atomic Bomb

Dropping of the second Atomic Bomb
August 9th 1945, the United States had officially forced the country of Japan into unconditional surrender after dropping the second atomic bomb but this bomb was dropped on Nagasaki because they did not think that dropping one of the most powerful bombs in the world was enough to force Japan into Surrendering so they dropped the second bomb.
