    Trust vs. Mistrust

    On August 8th, 1994 Emily gave birth to her baby girl Samantha. Emily decided to take 3 months off of work to bond with her baby. In Erikson's first stage, Trust vs. Mistrust, he emphasizes the importance of a caretaker being consistent in infancy. This positive bond between Emily and Samantha early on will help Samantha trust and build strong relationships later in her life.

    Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Jake is a pretty shy guy who doesn't put himself out there much. He has never been in a serious relationship. He finishes college on May 8th, 2015. After college he never really hits it off with anyone. He ends up spending the majority of his adulthood alone. Erikson's 6th stage, Intimacy vs. Isolation, talks about forming relationships in early adulthood. Because Jake never established a serious long term relationship he may experience depression from being lonely later in life.

    Ego Integrity vs. Despair

    Grandma Claire has the family over for the holidays. Her and the grandkids are sitting around the dinner table talking about old stories of grandma back in the day. Grandma Claire smiles and reminisces on her past in a positive light. Erikson's 8th stage, Ego Integrity vs. Despair, talks about when we reach the end of our life span we look back on our lives either satisfied or regretful. In this case, Grandma Claire is satisfied with her past and feels that she has lived a fulfilling life.
