    He was always causing trouble, getting bad grades, and frustrating his parents. He tried sports like swimming and baseball, but none of them worked. He got his first skateboard from his brother Steve. When he started skateboarding he was a natural and his grades and behavior improved. I think that his parents said he could skateboard if he studied hard.

    In the 1990s Hawk worried about the future of skateboarding. Skateboarding enjoyed popularity during the 1980’s, but the sport began to fade. Tony hoped that when he makes the company skateboarding will get more popular.

    “The 900” is a skateboarding move where you do two and a half circles in the air before landing. Tony first came up with the idea when he was 19 years old. During the 1999 X Games Hawk tried the 900 many times. Each time Hawk failed he got up and looked very determined to try the trick again. You can see the video of Hawk at the 1999 X Games here:

    Tony thought that skateboarding would help other kids like it helped him. So he created the Tony Hawk Foundation to help kids live healthy lives. The foundation has raised more than $2 million and builds skate parks throughout the United States. Tony Hawk didn't just skateboard to make skateboarding more popular, he also wanted to reach out to people.
  • 2002. Boom Boom Huck Jam was created.

    When Boom Boom Huck Jam was made it had lots of sports skateboarding, BMX, and Motocross. Hawk also wanted the grow the sport and make it more popular. Boom Boom Huck Jam was a big hit, it sold wherever it went.
