    He was named Henry Chapman. He was a frail and sickly child, and never strong.

    Vittwia was born in Kentucky, she was christened Vittwia St. Clair Chapman.
    Father: Samuel Chapman, born in England
    Mother: Sarah Smeed Chapman, born in England

  • Moves to Burlington in Iowa

    At the age of 4 Vittwia moved to Iowa with her parents.

  • Saw many prairie schooners going westward

  • Moved back to Kentucky

    In the early 50's Vittwia and her parents moved back to Kentucky.

  • Vittwia's brothers moves to Oregon

    Henry and Daniel moves because Henry need a change of climate. The docter said that the change could maybe be beneficial to him.

  • Moved back to Iowa

    Vittwia and her parents moved back to Iowa just before the American Civil War.

    The Civil war started in 1961 and lastet untill 1865.

  • Vittwia volunteers as a nurse

    At the age of 20 Vittwia volunteers, when Fort Sumter was fired on. MAny young women was anxious to nurse young men who were fighting for their convictions.

  • Henry and Vittwia arrive in South Oregon

  • Vittwia marries Mr. Mickelson

  • Mr. Mickelson dies

    Vittwia and Mr. Mickelson has travelles all over California for his health, since they gor married, but in 1894 he dies.

  • Vittwia buys own place in Ashland

    Some years ago she sold both of the rances.

  • Henry dies

  • Vittwa's journal ends, when she is 83 years old
