  • The Copernican Revolution

Before he published the structure of scientific revolutions, this book describes the paradigm shift from an earth-centered universe to a sun-centered one. • The Structure of Scientific Revolutions

In "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" Kuhn describes the history of science as progress from one paradigm to the next. When a certain paradigm is enough to use for the world as it is viewed, than regular science can function, elaborating knowledge within the paradigm. But when a paradigm enters a crisis, like in meeting phenomenon it cannot account for arriving at internal contradictions, the search for a new paradigm is on.

The essential tension is a collection of Kuhn's essays whose major purpose is to illuminate, explain, modify, and defend the thesis presented in the book. His thesis in this book is his main argument that science does not evolve gradually towards truth.
