Birth
Thomas Kuhn was born on July 18, 1922, in Cincinnatio Ohio. He had a brother, Roger, who was born 3 years later. His father, Samuel Louis Khun, and mother, Minette Kuhn, were successful and moved the family to New York quickly after Thomas was born.

Bachelor
Growing up, Thomas was a straight A student, and when the time came for college, he was enrolled at Harvard University. He arrived in Massachusetts in the fall of 1940, and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Physics and graduate with the highest honor in 1943.

War Work
Thomas joined a group called Radio Research Laboratory in 1943 and traveled with an Air Force Officer to Paris, France to study German radar installations. In August of 1944, Thomas saw General de Gualle’s convoy entering the Champs-Élysées.

Master to Doctorate
He went back to Harvard after World War II, and earned his master’s in 1946, then his doctorate in 1949. After receiving his degree, Kuhn became a professor at Harvard and began giving a History of Science Course.

The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.
In 1962, Thomas Kuhn published his book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.This book introduced the concept of the paradigm shift, and made Kuhn known. He influenced the philosophy of science as he noticed the framework of science in which Aristotle interpreted facts, was different from the basic mechanics we use today.The change of framework was the paradigm shift and eventually the term paradigm shift was used in all subjects, not just science.

Death
At the age of 73, Thomas Kuhn passed away on June 17, 1966 in Cambridge Massachusetts. He suffered from lung cancer for 2 years before passing.
