British Prime Minister Winston Churchill wired President Roosevelt that they should have a confrence. Britian soon after became Americas Allies. -
War Plans
There was a meeting at the White House concerning the plans for war. The people who attended where Prime Minister Churchhill, President Roosevelt, and advisors. The meeting lasted about three weeks long and developed a good plan. -
The Battle of the Atlantic
After the attack on Preal Harbor Hitler order Germany submarines to attack American ships. Arond the First several months of 1942 they attacked the US sinking 87 ships and three months later the Germans had sunk 681 Allied ships in the Atlantic. -
The Battle of Stalingrad
The Germans have been fighting in the Soviet Union since June 1941. Germans destroyred Stalingrad blowing up every house and important structure with bombs. When Germany almost owned half the city the Soviets closed in on the Germans with tanks and fought for about two days until the Germans surrendered. -
The Italian Campaign
Italian campaign started when America captured Silcily. They wanted out of the war but where still Germanys Allies. They thought the war was almost over and they would win until the "Bloody Anizo" battle. -
D-Day
D-day was the day of the first invasion. It was a terrible brutal fight and we attacked on Omaha beach in France. It was a week of non stop fighting. -
Death Camps
The Soviet troops where first to come across one of the Nazi death camps. They came across Maidanek, located in Poland. Gaurds where trying to burn and bury bodies so there was little evidence but once the Soviet saw the camp they saw thousands starving and dead. -
Battle of the Bulge
This is the day Americans captured their first Germen town. the towns name was Aachen. Hilters response was to break through Allies lines and that leasd to the Battle of the Bu;ge between German troops and Americans. -
Roosevelt's Death
Sadly President Roosevelt did not live to see the end of the war. He died on this day sortly before the war was over. While he was posing for a portrait he had a stroke and died. -
Unconditonal Surrender
Hitler prepared himself for loosing the war. Before it was over HIlter and his wife both killed themselves and asked for their bodies to be burned. On May 8th, 1945 the war was won by Europe and was over!
