  • President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Four Freedom's Speech

    A speech given by President Frainlin D. Roosevelt that said everyone in the world ought to have Freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.
  • The Attack on Pear Harbor

    Was a surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base in Hawaii. It happened on the morning of December 7, 1941. This led the United States into officially entering World War II.
  • The Internment of Japanese Americans

    Over 100,000 Japanese American's who were United States citizens were imprisoned in these camps. These camps were also known as War Relocation Camps. President Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942 and over the next couple months Japanese American's were relocated and moved into these internment camps that were located all around the United States.
  • Battle of Midway

    Happened between June 4-7, 1942. It was six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The battle was one of the first major victories against the Japanese for the United States. Was considered a turning point in the Pacific War.
  • Battle of Normandy

    This was also known as Operation Overlord. It was the landing of Unitied States, British and Canadian troops off the coast of France on June 6, 1944 also known as D-Day. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander in charge of this operation.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Was a surprise attack against the allied forces. Was a German offensive campaign that went through densely forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, France and Luxembourg on the Western Front at the end of World War II in Europe. It started on December 16, 1944 to January 25, 1945. The United States suffered from the attack the most. African American's soldiers volunteered to replace the fallen soldiers on the front lines, and mixed the military units.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    This was also known as Operation Detachment. Began on February 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945. First battle fought on an Imperial Japanese Island that was heavily fortified with bunkers, hidden artillery and tunnels. More United States soldiers were wounded or killed on this island than the Japanese.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Codenamed Operation Iceberg. Was the biggest assault in the Pacific War. Was around 82 days from April to the middle of June in 1945. Was going to be used as a main base if the United States was going to invade Japan. This battle had the highest number of casualties in the Pacific War. The peak of Kamikaze attacks happened during this battle.
  • Attomic Bomb Hiroshima

    This was the first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. It was nicknamed "Little Boy." The main numbers of deaths and wounded were civilians.
  • Atomic Bomb (Nagasaki)

    This bomb was nicknamed "Fat Man." After this bomb was dropped the Soviet Union would declare war on Japan leading the the Japanese to surrender to the allies on September 2, 1945.
  • Marshall Plan to Rebuild Europe

    This was the United States plan to rebuild Europe and its economy at the end of World War II. It began in April 1948 and it was planned to rebuild war devastated areas, and prevent the spreading of communism by the Soviet Union.
