Obama entered Harvard Law school in late 1988. He believed a degree in law would help facilitate community organization and activism. While attending school there he was elected as the first black president of law review, which at the time was a big deal. He graduated in 1991 with a J.D.magna cum laude. -

President Obama was assigned agents nearly nine months before people started voting. This is the earliest Secret Service has ever issued detail to a candidate. An agent states that the decision was made due to hatred during rallies about the historic nature of his candidacy, because him becoming president would make him the first African-American President.

Obama Pushes Ahead Winning Delegates
Obama wins several states including Maryland, Hawaii, Virginia, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Nebraska, and the District of Columbia. By winning these states it put him ahead in the running against Clinton. This proved that he really was a front runner in the Democratic nomination. -
Above Expectations with Delegates
Super delegates begin endorsing Obama in very large quantities, and eventually secures enough delegates to become the nominee of the Democratic Party which makes him the first African-American to become a major party nominee. He is expected to completely surpass the number of delegates needed to win the democratic nominee, which makes Hillary Clinton end her candidacy for President making Obama the main runner. -
Joe Biden Chosen as Running Mate
Obama finally choses Senator of Delaware Joe Biden as his running mate and vice president. He wanted someone who could "fill in the gaps". The two have their first rally in front of the old state capital in Springfield, Illinois.
